Pathway to the Foss Fairy Trail

Sustrans have completed a fabulous pathway down from the cycle track to the Fairy Trail.  The pathway was funded by the National Lottery and has made access from this end of the trail so much easier for the community.

We will continue to look at mobility access issues going forward.  A huge thank you to both Sustrans and the National Lottery funding!

Haiku Poem Writing Challenge

Fairies play football

Liverpool fighting fiercely

York cheering loudly.

Trees blow in the wind

When the fairies play football

The wind blows the ball.

Funny fairies dance

Watching butterflies swirling

In the wonderland.

A bird flies high up

Then swoops down into the sea

It catches a fish.

Haikus.jpg

Haiku - a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five, traditionally evoking images of the natural world.

Colourful autumn

A peaceful and beautiful day

Splash! Silent at last.

Lazy butterflies

Frogs jump on the lily pad

Insects on the log.

Earthy, jolly sun

The riverside is silent.

Swish swosh go the fish.

Authenticity

Fantastic flitting fairies

Beneath canopy.

The three haiku above were chosen to be placed on the trail. You can see them in situ there now, near the picnic benches.

Funding Award from National Lottery

Lottery[2666].png

We are proud to announce that The National Lottery have provided funding towards conserving the route down from the cycle track to the Foss Fairy Trail walk.  Sustrans, who own and maintain the cycle tracks offered their services to develop the route down from the cycle track in the coming year from funds provided by the National Lottery Community Funding. Please visit their website for further information: https://www.sustrans.org.uk/about-us/

It is a pleasure to work in conjunction with another Charity that is focused on providing beautiful spaces for the public to make use of. In this current climate this is vital to support those who have little money and need somewhere to enjoy outside that is free.
