Why are insects important?

​

Flowers attract insects such as bees and butterflies through the pollen they produce.  In turn, the insects then pollinate flowers of the same species which ensures seeds are produced meaning the plants can exist for generations. 

​

They are also a nutritional source of food for many birds and mammals.
